CONCLUSION:
Our experience at University Hospital supports the reported success rate
of greater than 90%, which is equivalent to surgical excision (10,11). A recent
study demonstrates an overall cost saving in comparison to surgical management
(12). Non-anesthetic complication rates are minimal. Post-procedural pain
is generally treatable with oral medication and patients may resume normal
activity almost immediately after the procedure (13). Experience shows that
RF ablation is an effective, safe and relatively simple procedure for the
treatment of osteoid osteoma tumors and it may become the procedure of choice
in the surgical treatment of these lesions.
