RADIOGRAPHIC ABNORMALITIES:

Conventional radiography (plain x-ray) is the initial diagnostic study of choice in the evaluation of patients in whom an osteoid osteoma is suspec-ted. The classic x-ray appearance is a centrally located, oval or round radiolucent area, measuring less than 1 cm in diameter, surrounded by varying degrees of reactive sclerosis. The tumor may be intracortical, medullary or subperiosteal.
