SKELETAL LOCATION:

The femur is the bone that is involved most frequently, followed by the tibia. Within the long bones, osteoid osteoma is usually located in the diaphysis, but it may extend into the metaphysis. Epiphyseal and intra-articular osteoid osteomas are rare. In the wrist, the scaphoid is affected most frequently. In the foot, the talus and the calcaneus are involved most commonly (6). However, any bone may develop an osteoid osteoma.
