The Division of Education is structured into two educational sections. The clinical education section which includes the Medical Student Education Program, Residency Programs and Clinical Fellowships is directed by Rajeev Suri, M.D., Vice Chair of Clinical Education. The second section is the Radiological Sciences Graduate Program which is directed by Geoffrey Clarke, Ph.D., FACMP, FAAPM.

 

The mission of the Clinical Education division is a commitment to providing excellent education to medical students, residents and fellows in diagnostic radiology and its clinical subspecialties. These opportunities are available to students and trainees at the University of Texas Health Science Center and surrounding communities.

The graduate program in Radiological Sciences is designed to prepare students to participate in the development and transmission of scientific knowledge concerning the uses of radiant energy forms in the diagnosis and treatment of human diseases. The degrees offered are (1) PhD in Medical Physics, (2) PhD degree specializing in Radiation Biophysics, (3) combined medical residency / PhD in Human Imaging,(4) PhD degree specializing in Neuroimaging Science, (5) Master of Science degree specializing in Medical Health Physics.

The Doctor of Medical Physics is a professional degree program, designed to  train medical physics students who are clinically-oriented and aspire to have careers dedicated to the treatment of cancer with radiation and the utilization of imaging technologies in medicine.  The program was started in 2013 to meet the needs of the profession of Medical Physics in both academic and clinical training.
