Organization
Introduction
The Radiological
Sciences Graduate Program, was authorized by the Coordinating
Board, in 1989. The program accepted its first graduate students
in the fall 1989.
The
Graduate Program in Radiological Sciences, is sponsored by the
Department of Radiology at the University of Texas Health Science
Center at San Antonio. All graduate programs in the basic biomedical
sciences are administered by the Graduate School of Biomedical
Sciences. The Graduate Catalog contains information pertaining
to the regulations and procedures of the Graduate School. The
organization and operating guidelines of the Graduate Program
in Radiological Sciences are included in this document.
The
Graduate Program in Radiological Sciences offers a Ph.D. or
Master of Science degree specializing in Medical Physics, Ph.D.
degree specializing in Radiation Biology or Master of Science
degree specializing in Medical Health Physics.
Committee
of Graduate Studies (COGS)
The Committee
on Graduate Studies (made up of Graduate Program faculty) administers
the Graduate Program in Radiological Sciences. The Chairman
of COGS, is elected by the Committee. The members of the faculty
are listed in Appendix III. This committee as well as one student
representative coordinates activities in the Radiological Sciences
Program and acts on such matters as curriculum procedures, admission
of students, and other pertinent policy consideration. The student
representative is elected each September by the graduate students
in Radiological Sciences and serves a one year term beginning
in October.
