The Department of Radiology in the School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is seeking a board certified radiologist with fellowship training (clinical/research) in Abdominal Imaging for a faculty position, at the Associate Professor rank or above to function as the Abdominal Section Division Chief, to provide clinical services at University Health System, and other locations within our practice plan and partner hospitals. Our hospitals are regional referral centers for trauma, internal medicine, surgery, oncology, and organ transplantation.

Candidate must have a medical degree, Board Certification in Diagnostic Radiology, Fellowship training in Abdominal Imaging, Texas State Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Medical License prior to start date.  Applicant should be competent in all aspects of abdominal imaging and intervention and be able to perform all modalities of abdominal imaging including diagnostic fluoroscopy, ultrasound, computed tomography magnetic resonance imaging as well as non-vascular, image guided interventional procedures. Duties include teaching medical students and supervising residents and fellows; participating in research and teaching conferences; and providing clinical care to patients.  Academic rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications.  All faculty appointments are designated as security sensitive positions.  Desired Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of clinical practice, experience in an academic environment, previous leadership experience.

Breast Imaging Radiologist (2-14-17)
The Department of Radiology, School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is merging with MD Anderson and is now seeking a board certified/board eligible radiologist for a faculty position, at the Assistant Professor to Professor Rank. Due to expansions and new opportunities we need another Breast Imaging Radiologist to provide clinical services at University Health System, UTM  and other locations within our practice plan and partner hospitals.  Our hospitals are regional referral centers for Level 1 trauma, internal medicine, surgery, oncology, and organ transplantation.

Candidates must have a medical degree, Board Certification/Board Eligibility in Diagnostic Radiology, have a Texas State Medical License prior to start date, and must have completed fellowship training in Breast Imaging.  Applicants with prior clinical experience with all current imaging modalities and an established record in academics including teaching and research experience are preferred. Cardiothoracic Radiologist (1-27-17)
The Department of Radiology, School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is seeking a board certified/board eligible cardiothoracic radiologist for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor to Professor Rank. This position will provide clinical services at University Health System, Medical Arts and Research Center and other locations within our practice plan and partner hospitals in San Antonio, Texas.  Our hospitals are regional referral centers for Level 1 trauma, internal medicine, surgery, oncology, and organ transplantation.

Candidates must have a medical degree, Board Certification/Board Eligibility in Diagnostic Radiology, Texas State Medical License or be eligible for a Texas Medical License, and completed fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Imaging. Applicants with prior clinical experience with all current imaging modalities and an established record in academics including teaching and research experience are preferred.  The department has a strong clinical practice in both chest and cardiac radiology (CT and MR). Diagnostic Medical Physicist (Assistant Professor/Clinical) (5-15-17)
The Department of Radiology in the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at the UT Health San Antonio, is currently recruiting for an Assistant Professor position in Diagnostic Medical Physics (Imaging Physics).  The UT Health system is located in San Antonio, Texas, in an accessible suburban setting on the edge of the beautiful Texas Hill Country. The successful candidate should hold a doctoral degree in physics, radiological physics, medical physics, or a related specialty. 

Duties Include:

  • Ensuring quality of care in the use of radiation-producing sources and imaging equipment and the protection of patients and staff from radiation
  • Performing quality control testing and equipment performance surveys on diagnostic radiological equipment to ensure compliance with all codes and implementation of quality control procedures.
  • Recording testing data and reporting problems to Radiology Department faculty.
  • Performing safety checks and ensuring that safety procedures are followed in all areas in which radiographic equipment is used; may recommend radiation safety procedures.
  • Developing and writing specifications for diagnostic radiological equipment purchases and serving as a resource to faculty; may advise on dosage planning and radiation safety matters.
  • Teaching radiological physics to residents and graduate students.
  • Taking responsibility for programs managing radiation doses to patients and personnel.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

 MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
Two years of professional experience in equipment testing. Completion of a two year CAMPEP-accredited residency or Doctor of Medical Physics (DMP) program can be substituted for this experience.

CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
Required: a strong clinical and research background and certification by ABR in Diagnostic Medical Physics, or in the process of becoming ABR certified.
Preferred: Certified by ABR in Nuclear Medical Physics or certified by ABSNM in Nuclear Medicine Physics.
Preferred: MQSA credentials in performance of digital mammography surveys.
Preferred: Current Texas Licensure as a Medical Physicist.

Nuclear Medicine (1-27-17)
The Department of Radiology in the School of Medicine UT Health San Antonio is seeking a Nuclear Medicine physician to join our growing program. This will be a full time faculty position at Asst. Professor to Professor Rank.  The faculty member will provide clinical services at University Health System, UT Medicine and affiliated facilities. Additional duties include, but not limited to, teaching medical students and supervising residents & fellows.  Candidates should preferably be Authorized Users and familiar with Nuclear Medicine therapies. A proven record of accomplishment in education and research are desired. Physician’s Assistant (Interventional Radiology Section) (5-15-17)
The Department of Radiology in the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio seek a PA in the Vascular Interventional Radiology Division. This position will be responsible for taking care of the VIR Consult Services at University Health System, UT Health and approved facilities, and help with bedside and other basic procedures under the IR faculty supervision. This is a full time position requiring radiology background with preferred experience in Vascular Interventional Radiology.  Must pass background check, have a current Texas License or be able to obtain one. Vascular Interventional Radiologist (2-14-17)
The Department of Radiology in the School of Medicine at the UT Health San Antonio seeks a Board Certified interventional radiologist for a faculty position at Assistant Professor to Professor Rank. This position will provide clinical services at University Health System, UT Health and the affiliated partners. The candidate must have expertise in vascular and non-vascular interventional procedures, preferably with experience in neuro-interventional procedures, and a proven record of accomplishment in education and research. The section performs a full range of vascular and non-vascular interventional procedures including peripheral arterial stents,  TIPS procedures, arterial and venous revascularization techniques, pediatric interventions, percutaneous biliary and renal procedures,  embolizations for pelvic, splenic, and other traumatic organ injuries.  Rank & Salary are commensurate with experience and qualifications.  Required:  MD or DO, Accredited Diagnostic Radiology Residency, Fellowship trained in Interventional Radiology, Board Certified/Eligible, must have or be able to obtain a Texas State Medical License prior to start date.
